The #CHANELCRUISECUBA Show Through our Eyes

A principios de febrero de este año recibimos una de las mejores invitaciones y noticias de nuestras vidas. Estar y ser unas de las bloggers invitadas para vivir la experiencia de #CHANELCruiseCuba en La Habana, Cuba, para presenciar un hecho histórico, vivir una experiencia de ensueño y conocer de primera mano lo que sería la colección Cruise 16/17 de la marca. Desde ese instante, empezamos a soñar, la alegría no podía ser mayor… era un sueño que se convertiría en realidad.

Se iba acercando la fecha y cada vez faltaban menos días para que todo empezará. Quisimos apoyar y vestir piezas con diseño de talentos y diseñadores colombianos en este viaje para los diferentes eventos y así, aprovechar la oportunidad de vivir esta experiencia al máximo y de alguna manera, representar nuestro país por todo lo alto. Por esto, para esta ocasión, confiamos a los diseñadores Franciso Leal y Karen Daccarett de la firma LEAL DACCARETT nuestros looks para el gran evento. Nosotras quedamos felices, esperamos que a ustedes les hayan gustado también.

Nos despertamos la mañana del 04 de mayo, sabíamos que sería uno de los días más emocionantes de nuestras vidas. Salimos a un tour por La Habana vieja en la mañana y después regresamos al HOTEL NACIONAL, dónde nos estábamos hospedando para arreglarnos y organizar todo. Se llegaba la hora y a las 6:15pm bajamos al lobby para encontrarnos con el resto de prensa invitada al show. La primera de muchas sorpresas llegó cuando empezaron a desfilar decenas de carros antiguos de los 50’s en colores vivos para llevarnos al Paseo del Prado, lugar del desfile. El viaje fue súper emocionante, estábamos felices. Compartimos el carro con Pam Hetlinger y Majo Cavallier de Panamá y Ecuador respectivamente, y nos fuimos cantando al ritmo de “Hasta que se seque el malecón”, nuestro himno estos días en Cuba. La canción más “pegajosa” y la que todavía tenemos en nuestras cabezas sin poder parar de tararear.

El Paseo del Prado, un escenario como de película entre las coloridas construcciones típicas del lugar, los leones de bronces que custodian el paseo, la música de fondo y la espontaneidad del momento que indicaban que la hora zero se acercaba. Con los violines de la Orquesta Sinfónica de La Habana como música de fondo y cada uno de los asistentes sentados en su lugar, todo estaba listo para empezar…

In early February we received one of the best invitations and news of our lives. Being invited by Chanel to experience the #ChanelCruiseCuba in La Havana, to witness an historic event, live a lifetime experience and know in first hand what would be it’s Cruise 16/17 collection. From that moment, we began to dream.

The date was coming and we wanted to do something different with each one of our looks. We wanted to wear Colombian talent, Colombian designers. This trip was the perfect opportunity to live this experience to the fullest and somehow represent our country. Therefore, for this occasion, we trust Franciso Leal and Karen Daccarett, the duo behind LEAL DACCARETT and creators of the looks for the big event. We were super happy and we felt excellent with ourselves. We were confident, secure and proud of what we were wearing.

We woke up on the morning of May 4th and we knew it would be one of the most exciting days of our lives. We went out on a tour of Old Havana in the morning and then, returned to the Hotel NACIONAL, where we were staying. At 6:15 pm and went down to the lobby to meet the rest of the press team. The first of many surprises came when they started when dozens of old cars of the 50’s in bright colors arrived one by one to take us to the show. The location: El Paseo del Prado. It was super exciting, we were happy, really happy and excited. We share our car with blogger Pam Hetlinger and PRIME’s editor Majo Cavallier of Panama and Ecuador respectively, and went singing along to “Hasta que se seque el malecon”, our anthem while these days while in Cuba.

The location was breathtaking, a walk among colorful buildings typical of Old Havana, with bronze lions guarding it and venchs through its path with the old cars on the sides and with all the enthusiasm of the attendees, created a spontaneous moment that indicated that the zero hour was approaching. With violins of the Symphony Orchestra of La Havana as the background music and each of the attendees in their place, everything was ready to start..

The brigth colors of the old cars that took us to the show and then to the party at “La Catedral” of Old Havana, sparkle among the scenery.

Para los diseñadores de LEAL DACCARET la inspiración para nuestros vestidos vino de la naturaleza: las protagonistas fueron las abejas y las flores en looks llenos de detalles con finos acabados y minuciosamente trabajados, con flores cosidas tela sobre tela que le dan vida a un jardín encantado o texturas, acabados y colores contrastantes sobrepuestos en una falda, creando una colmena.

Lo que más nos llamó la atención de esta colección y por lo que supimos que queríamos vestir con su firma durante el show es identificarnos con lo que Karen, la cuota femenina del duo de creadores, precisa sobre el vestir de la mujer para la que crean, una mujer que como dice ella, le gusta “verse elegante sin recargarse, soñarse y sentirse como princesa con vestidos de volúmenes importantes”.

For LEAL DACCARET the inspiration for our dresses came from nature: the main characters of their collection were bees and flowers in looks full of details with fine finishes carefully crafted, with stitched flowers fabric on fabric that give life to an enchanted garden, or, textures, finishes and contrasting colors overlayed on a skirt, creating a hive.

Besides of loving and admiring their work, one of the things we like the most about their creations is the fact that they design for a women that likes to be elegant without excess, likes to dream about herself and to feel like a princes with incredible dresses in large volumes, according to Karen, the the female quote of this duo of creators.
